Solange Tuyishime - New Brunswick

After graduating from École Sainte-Anne with a high school diplomat, she decided to continue her education at St-Thomas University. She was accepted in the journalism program, where she received a $6000 ATV Media Scholarship that is awarded to a third year student in Bachelor of Arts in journalism program, who demonstrates an interest in television journalism. On May 9th of 2005, she graduated from St-Thomas University with honours in French and a major in Journalism. In the future, she would like to further her education with masters in Public Communication.
Whenever she gets the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, she does it without hesitation. Every year Solange donates clothes and shoes to community living. Last year she participated in the Run For The Cure, raising money for breast cancer, and she wrote articles that were published every month, encouraging more people to participate. Since she loves working with children, for the past two years she has been coaching soccer, to children of grade 5 and 6. Last year she was the vice president of the African Student Union. During the year they organized activities for the African community in Fredericton. For many years she helped this association voluntarily in many activities like the African night that’s held every year at the University of New Brunswick.In 2004 she was crowned Miss New Brunswick International 2004. This was an opportunity of a lifetime that gave her the chance to participate at the Miss Canada International pageant where she finished a runner up. Because of her remarkable performance and dedication towards the title of Miss Canada International, in spring 2005, Ms. Tuyishime was once again strongly encouraged to participate at this national pageant. It was on August 27th 2005, when Solange Tuyishime was crowned as Miss Canada International 2006.
With a scholarship from the Miss Canada International Organization, and her life changing experience as Miss Canada International 2006, Ms. Tuyishime decided to further her education, and currently doing her Masters in Public Administrations, at the University of Moncton. Ms. Tuyishime proudly continues to play soccer with *les Aigles Blues* at the University of Moncton, and has been hosting many events such as the International Night and many more (Both in French and in English).
Following her graduation Ms. Tuyishime hopes to start a career that will allows her to keep fighting for children who are less fortunate, launch a charity organization, persist her passion for writing about her life experiences, and continuously get involved in fashion and modeling.

I am proud to be a Canadian, and being a survivor from the war, I’ve learned to be appreciative, to never take anything for granted, to help those who are less fortunate, to work hard in life and to never give up on my dreams.”

Solange Tuyishime; is a 24 years old from
Fredericton New Brunswick. She was born and raised in
Central Africa. When she was 13 she escaped from the war in
central Africa and moved to Canada.
She continued her education at
École
Sainte-Anne (A well recognized French school in Fredericton,
New Brunswick). In school she was a very active person. She
played Basketball for two years, volleyball for three years
and soccer all through high school and was captain of the
girls’ soccer team during her last year. She was also part
of the student union, the year book committee, theatre
committee, and a cheerleader. She graduated from École
Sainte-Anne in 2001 with a scholarship from the Knights of
Columbus. Through those years, She received numerous awards
such as: most improved player 18 & Under girls “AAA”,
Sportsmanship award and most valuable cheerleader, 1st
place- Provincial Champions, N.B.I.A.A. Sr. Soccer Girls
(four years in a row).

the community, Ms. Tuyishime was a member of the African
Student Union for numerous years, in which she was vice
president for two consecutive years. During the year they
organized activities for the African community in
Fredericton. For many years she helped this association
voluntarily in many activities like the African night that’s
held every year at the University of New Brunswick.
In 2004 she was crowned Miss New Brunswick
International 2004. This was an opportunity of a lifetime
that gave her the chance to participate at the Miss Canada
International pageant where she finished a runner up.

the title of Miss Canada International, in spring 2005, Ms. Tuyishime was once again strongly encouraged to participate
at this national pageant. It was on August 27th
2005, when Solange Tuyishime was crowned as Miss Canada
International 2006 and held the title for 2007 as well,
crowniing her successor in August of 2007.
Making history, Ms. Tuyishime not only became
the first title holder from New Brunswick to win a national
title, she was also the first Black woman to hold such a
title amongst all others pageants in Canada. Through hard
work, dedication and support from her family, friends and
the MCI organization Ms. Tuyishime was able to complete her
reigning year successfully.
