Miss Canada International 2009
Catherine Thomas - Kelowna, British Columbia

Catherine Thomas was a 22 year old with a passion for life when she was crowned
Miss Canada International 2009.
She grew up in Kelowna B.C. where she enjoyed the beautiful beaches and all the
culture Kelowna had to offer. Catherine was always involved with one event or
another. She loved being student body president in grade 11 and later became
student body president at her college. A lot of her time as a teenager was
spent at the dance studio where she took classes in ballet, modern, tap and
jazz! After graduation where she had the honor of being valedictorian, she went
on to a year studying at the Ministry Training Institute. Here she had the
opportunity of doing lots of community service, learning some great life skills
and even traveling to the Dominican Republic to help build a home.
She then became a dance teacher and taught at her local studio and at a high school. From there she decided it was time to really pursue her life goals and ambitions. She spent a year at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. There she studied acting, dance and voice. Catherine wants to continue her studies and one day work in the world of film! She also would like to open a non-profit private performing arts high school later down the road. Catherine is passionate about young women finding their true worth and value in today’s society. After struggling through many self esteem issues herself she believes she is qualified to speak to the youth of today and help them find their path.
She is currently working on a book about this and hopes to finish it within the next couple years. She also loves to travel having been to many places across the world. Her biggest travel goal is to visit India and spend some time in their culture.
