To the delegates of MCI
Congratulations on your achievement thus far. It is a great honor to represent your community and province. It is hard to believe that I was in your shoes in 2003 representing my Province of Newfoundland as Miss Newfoundland 2003. Placing in the top eight was more then I could of hoped for. Pageant week is an exciting time, and I encourage you to enjoy it to the fullest. The memories and friendships you will form will last a lifetime.
As a former delegate, I probably experienced much of the same emotions you are experiencing now: excitement, nervousness, and uncertainty. It is these emotions that make the MCI Pageant a wonderful experience. It challenges you to grow as a person and to continue to contribute to your community, not only for the next year but for your lifetime.
Pageant week is full of surprises, and you can expect the unexpected. Just don't forget to bring your camera to capture these moments so you can reflect on this experience for years to come. I will give you a hint though - you can expect lots of rehearsals, fittings, traveling, and you will visit many of Ontario's beautiful (and fun) tourist attractions. Be sure to be well rested and physically fit because you will need your energy for this week. Pageant week will give you some sense of what being Miss Canada International for a year is like, and if such a title is meant for you.
A final piece of advice, don't get caught up in competing. Live in this moment and enjoy it to the fullest. Let your true self shine through and you will leave MCI with no regrets.
Sincerely yours,
Tracy
